Hands-on Intensive 4-Week Musical Theatre Workshop
associate degree in occupational studies
Musical Theatre School. The Four-Week Musical Theatre Workshop provides a rigorous and fun training experience that closely models the first four weeks of the longer programs. The program is designed for individuals with singing and movement abilities who may or may not have prior experience on a musical theatre stage. The following courses allow students to get an introduction to the integral skills required for success in this field and learn how to prepare themselves for the varied demands of a musical theatre career. The program culminates in a presentation for faculty, friends, and classmates. All participants in the Four-Week Workshop will have the opportunity to be considered for our One or Two-Year Programs, pending space availability. Applications can be completed online or brought to the audition. Please prepare two contrasting musical theatre songs and one monologue from a contemporary American play each piece should be approximately seconds in length. When auditioning at the New York City location, a pianist will be provided.
Second year master classes offer students small group workshops with successful Broadway performers, choreographers and directors. Working professional faculty assist students in preparing an audition repertoire of songs and monologues uniquely suited to their individual strengths as a performer. Every student is cast in a performance each semester. Musical revues, selected scenes, song cycles and a full production in final semester mean you are always rehearsing for performance in front of an audience.
Simply put, you come to New York and train with us. The New York Conservatory for the Dramatic Arts is proud to announce our new two-year associates degree program in musical theater performance. And, while we understand that there are many great generalized schools out there, why not go where you and your interests are the priority? Here at NYCDA, our sole focus is on preparing the performers of tomorrow for an artistic career on the stage and beyond, and it shows in how we approach our curriculum. What does this mean for you? Your education is personalized to your needs. Taught in small classrooms, each one of our students has ample 1-on-1 time with our instructors.
